2016 marks 20 years since the launch of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and what some might consider the dawn of the sustainability reporting movement. It also marks the transition of the GRI reporting framework from an evolving set of guidelines to a more mature framework of standards due to be formally launched later this year.

At the same time, there are a variety of alternative, and in some cases complementary, approaches to sustainability reporting emerging, including those being driven by the needs of the responsible investment community such as Integrated Reporting and the US-based Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB).

Corporates are also increasingly reporting on their progress against specific voluntary commitments such as the UN Global Compact or the recently established Sustainability Development Goals.

The emergence of these multiple, alternative visions of what best practice reporting looks like and what it should aim to achieve begs the question: Are we heading into a period of greater fragmentation of sustainability reporting or is there still a trend towards harmonisation and standardisation of approaches to sustainability reports?

Join us as we take a look at the FTSE100 index to examine the State of Sustainability Reporting and what the implications might be for future reports.

Who should attend?

  • Seeking to understand how their approach to reporting compares with that of other companies in the FTSE100
